Pray for those who are mourning and grieving the death of a loved one.

God of compassion, we lift up those who are mourning and grieving the death of a loved one during this time. Surround them with your presence and fill every longing during this time of separation. We ask that you would hold them close to your heart in the moments when they feel helpless, alone and caught up in deep sadness. God of comfort, in their grief, would you shelter them in the shadow of your wing. Ever-faithful God, help them to feel your love through these words of hope to all your people from the prophet Isaiah: "Because you are precious to me, because I love you, there is no need to be afraid, for I am with you." Father, in this time when families and friends cannot draw near to one another for comfort, we ask that you would be their strong rock, their comforter, healer and friend.
