Pray for those who are mourning and grieving the death of a loved one.

God of compassion, we lift up those who are mourning and grieving the death of a loved one during this time. Surround them with your presence and fill every longing during this time of separation. We ask that you would hold them close to your heart in the moments when they feel helpless, alone and caught up in deep sadness. God of comfort, in their grief, would you shelter them in the shadow of your wing. Ever-faithful God, help them to feel your love through these words of hope to all your people from the prophet Isaiah: "Because you are precious to me, because I love you, there is no need to be afraid, for I am with you." Father, in this time when families and friends cannot draw near to one another for comfort, we ask that you would be their strong rock, their comforter, healer and friend. Draw them close to you, Lord, and help them to sense your deep love and promised presence.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. -Matthew 5:4 (NIV)

Pray for people at higher risk of developing the disease.

Dear Lord, we lift to You our concern for people who are more likely than others to become severely ill from COVID-19 — the elderly and people with chronic health conditions. Protect them from harm and be their comfort in this time of uncertainty and, for many, preventive isolation from loved ones.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.—1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

Pray with us!

Our world, community and church is in desperate need of prayer in this crisis.

Thank you for praying for the many needs around us at this time. Prayer is important, and you are invited to join us in a live prayer experience on Zoom, weekdays at noon. A link to the live prayer experience will be posted daily on the blog.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Pray for educators and students (including colleges and universities)

God we pray for students during this time who are away from their routines and their lives at school. We pray that they continue to have positive connections with their friends and others from school. We pray for their work at home, that you help them be productive and give them confidence that they can do their work well.

God we also pray for the teachers while they are away from their students. You know how much the teachers care and love for their students and want them to succeed. In this time of online learning, we pray that the time spent with their students online is life-giving and can be a moment where the students see that their teachers are there for them.

The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11 (NIV)
